Was This A Good Credit Deal?

What about giving £20.00 a week to a family member to look after? then when you have enough you can go and pay cash and maybe find a better deal.0

If I were you I would sign up to your local credit union. Google credit union and your local area. Set up a standing order to put £20 in a week in it. Then you can take a loan with them after about 10 weeks. From then on some of the £20 goes to pay the loan and some goes into your savings. Win! win!
This is the website of one near me

If you are aware of what you spend the money on each week, why not seal a pot up and put it in there each week as soon as you have it - then you can't spend it on takeaways etc - you say you can't save, but you'll have to if you buy the sofa - no choice, so why not start now and get into the swing of it??
Some charity shops have suites, I've seen some really lovely ones near me for £60 - £80, clean, unmarked. If you've an auction house near you, try there. I've been to furniture auctions and seen sofas go for virtually nothing. There was a stunning leather one once - went for £80!
Did you manage to sort out the TV you were looking to buy a month or so back or have you stuck with the portable?

ALARM BELLS should be ringing right now. Whats to stop this guy upping the 'interest' or claiming he 'told' you it would cost £1000 doing it this way? You don't have a leg to stand on if he calls round every week for the rest of his life! :eek:0 -
What if you miss a £20, what if something bad happens? The guy will be on your front door step - what if he returns with some big mates?
Try freecycle or keep what you have, at least you sit on what's yours. It seems to me that if you go for the new sofa, or any sofa on credit, you are on the road to nowhere.0 -
Cant? or wont? Sorry harsh, you say you have money left at the end of the week, yet you spend it? You obviously dont want a new sofa that much. Save the money up then you wont have to pay the bloke an added £50! SO you will of saved £50 by saving the money yourself then you can also earn interest on the savings in the bank account.b That is how the rich get richer.. By saving.nirelandguy wrote: »Yes I know but the problem is we cant save at all,Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!0
