Hi,
Can any of you advise which Dell pc I should go for. I dont really want the lowest price one, It is to be used for home use and maybe watching t.v etc.
I also want it to be quite fast.
Thanks

It's a bit like asking how long is a piece of string, everyone has different requirements and specifications they would look for, have a budget first, then look at what size monitor you want, do you want a widescreen version if you are going to use it for films / tv? You'll need a TV tuner - not to mention a decent fast processor, graphics card, large hard disc, at least 1Gb RAM, preferably 2Gb, a DVD writer, etc etc..
All the current Dell deals are listed on this site: http://www.dmxdimension.com/0 -

A nice one is the Inspiron 6400 with 2Gb Memory and Dual Core Processor .... currently £400.It has taken about 4,500,000,000 (4.5 billion) years for the Earth to form as it is now .........
and it'll only take about another 100 years for mankind to really **** it up!!!!0 -
Everyone is correct but as to what to look for for it to be a DECENT one, I would say
AT LEAST:
1GB Ram,
Lowest core 2 duo processor (i think its 1.4ghz)
DVD writer
256mb graphics card.
Wouldn't do any less. Obviously anything above this is good.Rules, Rules, Rules .....0 -
You haven't even said if you want a laptop or not. Grumpy_old_duffer recommended the Inspiron 6400, a nice machine but useless if you actually want a desktop with a 24" screen for watching Telly. You need to define what you're going to do with it and what your budget is. For me 'home use' is gaming and video editing, for someone else it may not.
Personally I would say whether it's a laptop or desktop you want as a minimum
2Gb RAM
A Core 2 Duo processor (not worth getting a Quad core)
DVD writer
any basic graphics card with 256Mb of RAM (if you're playing games this goes out the window of course)
250-300 Gb Hard disc in a desktop or 120-160Gb in a laptopIt's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0
