Are Prices Really Decreasing?!?
Comments
-
I think you will find that all recent reports indicate that the rate of INFLATION has decreased over recent months, not the house prices themeselves.
Annually, not yet. Monthly, there've been several reports of falls - Halifax, Rightmove, Hometrack...Hurrah, now I have more thankings than postings, cheers everyone!0 -
I'd like to see price rises because:
1. I'd be richer (on paper at least)
2. My tenants would stay longer and I could charge them more
I'd like to see price falls because:
1. My kids might be able to buy a home
2. I could justify another BTL or two
3. It would postpone property p0rn on TV
On balance, I'd prefer price falls for my kids but, other than that, I ain't bovvered. Do I look bovvered?

Until 1998 I lived in shared houses and hated it
when I bought first flat in 1998 for 120 I was warned not to as market was peaking
Now that's a puzzling thing. Here's a graph of prices from 1986 to 1998, and then in real terms;
I fail to see how that looks like a peak to anyone.Hurrah, now I have more thankings than postings, cheers everyone!0 -
Hindsight is great, but seriously in 1998 I was warned not to buy by banking colleagues

Fair enough. It's probably because interest rates went up to 7.5%, it's certainly true that if you were getting a fix, you might have been better off waiting until they came down to 5% in 1999, even if you paid a higher actual price.Hurrah, now I have more thankings than postings, cheers everyone!0 -

#1. The people that run these "sell your house and rent back" companies are generally lying thieves and are best avoided
#2. This time next year house prices in general will be lower than they are now
#3. Cheap houses are a good thing not a bad thing0 -
I think beingjdc's post about affordability is spot on, as are dolce's fab stock answers.
I think we've uncovered Tasotti before on a thread. Isn't he/she a BTL in denial.
I cant remember and don't have the inclination to look back over previous posts.
What I will say is your argument is just plain stupid. There has been substantial Growth over the last 3 years, so your examples are poor and are fooling no one.
Give it another year and prices will be lower, these things don't happen overnight (unfortunately)0 -

And he's/she's got his/her own theme tune.........

Lol,
Thanks for the laugh dolce.
They'll be bringing this back in a few years time though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2t8YTvdYXws (with a few minor adjustments.)0 -

Yeah that madness spoof is brilliant.
Spitting image in their prime.
I don't watch a lot of telly but I do like political satire; but all I have at the moment is Bremner, Bird and fortune.
HERE , 2 of them explain the background to the recent turmoil in the financial markets.dolce vita's stock reply templates
