I have tried to use TINY URL on this site a few times but it fails to show the tiny url part of the address and replaces it with exclamation marks, as shown.

Does anyone out there know why this site does not allow this clever website to make web addresses easy to read instead of having lines and lines of an address with endles characters?
Has it some underlying secret I wonder?

And also because there's a simpler way to achieve the same effect, as demonstrated just now by espresso and as described in this thread:

It's to stop people linking to malicious code sites with an innocuous tiny url, a technique often used by phishing.
All URLs posted on MSE must either be in full as shown by fwor or by using linked text as shown by espresso, so that when you hover over the hyperlink, you can see exactly where it will take you (in the status bar at the bottom of your browser, on in some as a tool-tip popup).0 -
