Sony DSC-P51 2MP / Mem. Stick Pro 512 mb

I recently purchased the above mem. stick for P51 which is about three years old. Keep getting the message "memory stick error". Is my camera too old? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Are your old memory sticks still working in it ? As in the purple ones that may have come with the camera ?

If they are, then it maybe that your camera doesn't take the 'pro' stick which is different from the standard memory stick.

There's a whole lot of weirdness going on with Sony's memory sticks etc with all their new cameras taking 'duo sticks' which is not a lot of use for my 512mb stick !

My camera is 2 years old (DSC 92) and takes the pros, but maybe 3 years is too old

Thanks Alison. Yes my old sticks work perfectly and I must admit that I suspected that the camera was too old. The stick that I have bought is a Sandisc Ultra Magic Gate and I just wanted to be able to take more photos. Having thought further about it, the camera is only 2 1/2 yrs old.Thanks again for your help.
