For your requirements I would suggest...
Screen size 19" minimum for editing photo's
Ram/Memory 1GB minimum
Dvd Speed...doesn't really matter
Free printer...I prefer to get my photo's printed online, better quality and less hassle.
Disks...depends on how many photo's he is going to store on disk before burning to DVD...I suggest 340GB or more and possibly 2 hard disks so he has one to back up stuff to.
£600-£700 is enough for a fast core 2 duo system.0 -
thanks for info cant find the thank you button??
another question
340g memory, if on two drives; if one got an infection would the other be ok??
or is an infected computer infected?WAS DEBT FREE & STILL BAAARRRRRKING

I would imagine that viruses these days can infect all drives in a PC and even those on a network.
Having 2 drives is no solution to stopping viruses, you need a decent spyware blocker and virus checker.
Having a second drive means that you can copy all of the files that you want to protect. Also you could copy the entire main drive to the backup ( with the correct software ) then if the main drive fails you can boot with the backup.
Also it is wise to back up to dvd too just in case you get really unlucky and both drives fail at the same time :eek:0 -
If you're runnign Vista you need at least 2Gb of RAM, I'd recommend it for XP too to be honest as RAM is cheap nowadays. If your friend is serious about image editing etc make sure they get a good quality monitr not just a cheaper that comes with the machine. They'd probably be better just buying a tower and then shopping around for a good monitor separately. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0
