Why is it that every month the media go about trying to convince the BOE to lower interest rates.

I may be wrong but I don't think there has ever been a time they have called for an increase. Why is this?

On the times rates have been reduced the newsreaders look happy and chirpy and on the times rates have gone up they look glum and miserable.

Well said Aardvaak at least there are others with the same feelings

Isn't it the same thing as rain being called 'bad weather'? Increasing interest rates are good for some, less so for others. I like the rain on my allotment, it saves me from having to water the plants.

It sure is bad news for me when they are reduced I earn interest as my only form of income.

It does'nt help anyone to reduce them it just increases inflation for all of us and give the pr*ts that call for the reductions false hope.

That's not true. A lot of borrowing is to provide investment that provides jobs.

Employers are cutting jobs even though they got cut last month.

Interest rates are still far lower than they were in the 90's. I can remember the good days of 15% base rates. They were the days I could get a decent living.

Lets hope the next change is up!

I walked past an estate agents window yesterday evening and spotted a poster announcing that the IR had dropped 0.25% which was in the favour of those wanting to buy...

    OHPS!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Nobody has to buy if people decide to take out such large mortgages/loans it is going to stretch their finances - that's their fault - they should 'nt whinge to the rest of us.

It's like people spend, spend, spend at Christmas then come January when the bills come in they whinge, whinge, whinge.
