Interest free cards outside UK

Now residing "down under" a close relative has a substantial amount of debt on UK (global) bank credit card.
An amount is paid back monthly by direct debit from a "local" bank but I think it could take around three years to clear this debt with a horrendous amount of interest being paid.
Is the facility to move to interest free cards available for those residing (temporarily) "down under"

Welcome to the boards, you might struggle to get new cards if you already have bad debt and are based outside of the UK. Best bet might be to contact the companies and try and get a settlement figure of freeze the interest. HTH.

I'm sure there must be 0% credit cards in Australia (or NZ or wherever they have gone). I don't know if it is possible to balance transfer between cards from different countries. If not it may be possible to "stooze" in the same way we do here to get cash off the cards and use it to repay the UK ones. See the Super Balance Transfer article in the the blue box above and/or https://www.stoozing.com

Did a Google search and found this: http://abetterdeal.com.au/BankWest_Zero/index.asp
Working in Banking myself, I know that 0% deals are still in their infancy in Australia. You can't do inter country balance transfers. Your relative will have trouble obtaining an Australian card as well unless they have resided there for 3 years just like over here. I have heard of certain card firms such as American Express which allow you when you re locate to change your UK Card to a card in the new country. I think Amex is a rarity though.
