Hi
I have a small task for a local playgroup. I have designed a very basic website for them. They have held a competiton to design the logo and they have scanned and email me the winner.
The issue I have is how to convert this to an image for a website.
As it was scanned , the white back ground appears in many shades of white/grey and the logo 0image is in black felt tip pen which again is in different shade of darker greys.
How do i change all the background bits to a set colour and make the image part all black so it stands out.
Been playing with Photoshop and GIMP all night but I havent a clue really.
Thanks
John

I can't think off the top of my head and would struggle to put it in to words if I could.
I could always have a look and see what I could do, if you wanted. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
Could you not just 'cut' around the image, for instance if you used the magic wand tool to select the drawn image (hopefully) or draw it round it manually by hand. Then invert the selection so then you have everything else selected, excluding the image you want to keep then press delete and it should remove the background noise so to speak. Then anything you lay the image over will show through as there will be no white background.0

It's easy when you know how but, is always better if you play around by trial and error or if someone in the know shows you how it's done.
It'll take awhile to touch-up and convert (by hand) the scanned image to a usable image your wanting ...
I'd take BexTech's offer up in all honesty and practice on something more basic until you gain further experience.
Last thing you want is a botched-up local playgroup logoProudly Banking & Saving With:

try the magic wand tool - aka fuzzy select for the white/grey areas use tool options (double click tool icon if you can't see tool options) to change the mode - add/deselect etc to get all the parts you want then fill with colour or rub out to a white backgrd same for the black parts but fill with colour ..
see http://docs.gimp.org/en/gimp-tool-fuzzy-select.htmlRich people save then spend.
Poor people spend then save what's left.0 -
In photoshop, select Image > Adjustments > Auto levels
If that doesn't work select Image > Adjustments > Levels and that will bring up a histogram. Grab the white slider tab immediately beneath the histogram and slide it to the left. That should make the whites uniform. Adjust the black tab to the right to do the same with the blacks
