Hyundai Accent 1.3 and new driver Insurance
Options
Hi,
My son is just about to sit his driving test. He has just turned 18 and really fancies a Hyundai Accent 1.3i,1341cc, something around the £750 mark. This car is more suitable for him as he is quite tall as opposed to the smaller cars like fiesta, saxo etc. Ive tried to get some idea by contacting a couple of Insurance companys but without specific details they are unable to quote any realistic figures. Anybody out there got any idea how much Insurance is likely to cost.

Just shove some details into confused.com and see what that returns.0

I know confused.com gives a quote for ecarinsurance, but go to https://www.ecarinsurance.co.uk directly. My renewal quote from them is £514, but checking for cheaper insurance (which I didn't find any) I was quoted over £700 for the same insurer. Not sure if it's a quirk of Confused's quoting system or if that extra money is confused's profit.
Confused will definitely give you a ballpark figure to work with though before buying a car, but always do as much shopping around as possible.
As for other cars with plenty of room for a tall person that are cheap on insurance and to run, the Skoda Felicia 1.3 is a possibility, but probably not so appealing a choice as the Hyundai. I am 6'3" and happy in the previous model the Favorit. Once you set up a quote on confused you can "amend" it and try out various cars to see how it affects the quote.
Also try adding yourself as a named driver to his policy, even if you'll never drive it, as in some instances this can reduce the quote.0 -
I'd just say that Hyundai's are usually not very secure. If I remember rightly the Accents usually score 2/5 at Thatcham.0

Funnily enough i was looking for my nephew who passed his test yesterday and cheapest quote tptt was about £1600 that is with his dad as an additional driver (nephew as main driver) to bring the quote down.that was also roughly the same for 3 cars we got qoutes on,(renault clio, daewoo matiz, and hyundai) makes me wonder how all theses young kids can afford to insure themselves nowadaysHi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
