can't get online with virgin w580i

Hi, it used to be an o2 phone, se w580i, i sent all the settings to it from virgin for internet and mms, but the internet wont work. i only have the option of pressing on the screen 'o2 home' and it does nothing for ages then says cant connect, it worked once when i input an address in manually but wont work again now. keep getting 'communication faliure contact operator for support' but i couldnt even understand the woman at virgin, she seemed to think i was still on o2 (doh!) how do i get virgin bites up theres no option anywhere in old unlocked phones youd click on o2 and virgin would come up after the settings had been sent but this one wont i'm going mad!

edit-even though the internet is off i keep getting a message come up saying server not found-help!
virgin resent me the settings but it's still doing the same thing so now im waiting for their tech people to phone back. it's definitely set to virgin and has all the right settings.
