Not Credit, Debit..

Sorry if this is in the wrong place. Didn't know where to put it and I just want some quick advice :).

I'm 16 and I have a Solo debit card. My friend (also 16) has a Visa Electron debit card and he uses it to buy things online. Am I able to do that with a Solo card? I had a look on the PayPal site but it never said anything about Solo cards..

  • It does depend on the individual retailer. I know both Amazon and Play take Solo. But you would need to check the website (try the FAQ's) of whoever you want to buy from.

Yes PayPal do allow you to add Solo debit cards to your porfolio and I've found Solo cards are more readily accepted than Visa Electron ...

    Hope this helps :)

  • Thanks, put a smile on my face :D

Now, my brother is asking if a Cirrus card can be used as well. Do they work? I think its a debit card anyway..

Solo is used in this country (UK) but, if added to PayPal it doesn't matter as long as PayPal accepted is shown where your buying.

The card is a debit card denoted by the 16 digit number that runs from left to right on front middle of the card, on the reverse is a signature strip with 7 digits on it, the last 3 digits are the security number you are asked for when adding it to PayPal and or paying and or buying on the net without going through PayPal and or over the phone ...

Cirrus is not for Debit Cards. Cirrus is for access to the Mastercard network of ATMs (cash machines). The 'VISA version' of Cirrus is iPLUS.

So simply put, a Cirrus allows you to do ATM withdrawals when you are out of the UK, when no LINK facility is available.
