Rescuing a Staffie

  • well.... we failed miserably in rehoming a staffie!

we brought home another collie instead.

we saw the dog advertised on a website, went to visit it at the rescue centre today - different rescue - and brought her home.

she's lovely. about 1yr old. classic border collie markings and a slightly shorter than normal tail. she was found as a stray a couple of weeks ago and was never claimed. she has a lovely demeanor and has been playing with or dog all night! heres hoping we can get them to settle for the night!!!

    one sleepness night coming up!

As for agility - definitely. We're hoping that an agility course might start somewhere local soon because Bo would absolutely excel at it - she's quick, deft and agile, and she likes to be kept entertained. She's done flyball before, and picked it up within 15 minutes.

have you checked agilitynet to see if there is a club near you?

Thank you for the link! Unfortunately the nearest club's still a good hours drive away, so she'll have to make do with flyball, or we can hope that the training club we go to might do agility sometime too.

Congratulations on the new dog - hope she's settling in well. Don't forget about photos!

  • yeah... i think she was a real find! we are delighted!

however, she is in full season so we are having to be a bit careful with her and she is a bit snappy with our other collie. we are hoping this will ease as she comes out of season and they get used to each other.

Oh, that's a shame. I'm sure they'll settle down once she's finished her season. She looks like she'll love agility!

I'd love another rescue dog as a chum for Tilly. But we live in a rented house, which doesn't have a secure garden (not that it worries Tilly, as she's always supervised). More than that, I'd love to find a decent training group in our area (Penrith), even better would be a clicker trainer. Our most local agility group is Wigton, so maybe I'll enquire with them. If she could be calm enough to concentrate, she'd make a great agility dog, she can really jump!

Eden Valley Dog Training Club any good to you? according to the website they are just thinking of starting agility but i think the site is well out of date.

maybe phone or email them (contacts page) to see if they are still up and running
