3 unknowns! and type of boiler makes a huge difference.
A. Price you get E7 electricity
B. Price you get gas
C. Efficiency of your boiler.
Gas ranges between 2p to 2.5p/kWh; boiler efficiency between 50% and 95%
So using those figures, gas will cost between 2.1p/kWh and 5p/kWh
For most people there is little advantage either way; with a modern condensing boiler gas wins, an old boiler E7.
Bear in mind that you have E7 you are paying a lot more for all your daytime electricity; and most people with gas CH find it difficult to make E7 a worthwhile proposition.0 -
Also depends on how much hot water you use each day and the insulation on your tank.
If you find you are topping up the tank a lot during the day, the benefit moves towards gas.
Use a little with a well insulated tank, and it can lean towards E70
