Does anyone know of a free/cheap program to make a Karaoke disk.
Been asked by a DJ in the pub who has a lot of requests for songs that are not available on the standard Karaoke disks, that he wants to put to his collection.

Good luck on this!
There is the standard CD+G format (sound choice & sunfly) and the increasingly popular mp3+g format. To a lesser extent there is the .kar (midi + lyrics) format too which plays poor sounding .mid files - ok for kids I suppose.
The standard majority of standard burners or software does not create CD+g format. Old Plextor drives did, but not sure about the new ones. Also in many cases you can burn to an image to hdd then force the image onto the disk using dao mode to overcome this. Also http://www.goldenhawk.com/ cdrwin is used to record/copy
the big trick is to get the tune with no vocals, otherwise it is not karaoke. then to get the lyrics and sync them to the tune. There is some software out there that cancels out the channels, removing the voice, however I have only ever got it easily working on their demo program but have tried many other audio tracks and it had little effect.
Buy them, for £20 each they are a bargain to the amount of work involved getting new disk up and going.
