MaxJet

Good afternoon,
we bought 5 tickets from London to LV (Apri), we processed a payment directly to Bank Account, they confirm
that transfer of funds has been received. Electronic tickets have been issued.
How can be a refund peid back when we paid directly to their account?

Could you help me?

So, did you do a bank transfer straight from your account to theirs? Good luck then, I think you have done your money, as they are bankrupt, and you certainly won't be a creditor. Hard lesson to learn to ALWAYS pay for flights using a credit card.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

The OP will be a creditor, but they will not be a priority debt, and therefore are unlikely to receive much back at all (and not for a very long time).

The OP would have also received protection if they had used a Visa debit card.
    Gone ... or have I?

Sorry, I ment a creditor of any value. You wanna ask a bank employee about that last statement ;)

    Hi

I am one of the gutted many who have had their LV holiday cancelled due to Maxjet going bust. However, we DID pay on the credit card and have received a full refund, apart from the credit card booking fee.

How can I get this refunded? Surely, I was charged this on the basis that I would be getting a holiday. Now that I am not, where or how do I go about claiming the £40 that was the credit card booking fee?

    Thanks!
  • I had a total of 16 people booked on Maxjet flights for Las Vegas in June 08. Everybody has booked on Credit Cards but no refunds yet. I have written to the Credit Card Company in the hope to get my money back. How did you get your money back so quick samjocky ??? and how long did it take ???

    Thanks

We booked with LastMinute.Com and it was actually them who rang US to confirm they would be refunding the money. This was followed up with an email from them within 24 hours and the money (albeit the credit card fee) was reimbursed very soon after. Can't fault their customer service!
  • Hubby and I were booked to fly with Maxjet in March. Still wrangling with our credit card company (Lloyds TSB) for a refund - we've had one form to fill and in and are now awaiting a second form, their Disputes department now won't accept calls from us - surely this isn't normal?

If you have received your refund already - which credit card company did you use to book your tickets and what (if any) hoops did they make you go through to get any money back?

    Thanks

I booked my flight using Halifax, filled out form and sent copy of original booking as well as a copy of Maxjets front page stating what had happened. Halifax have credited my card and on my on-line statement say "manual chargeback" so I seem to be okay.

Hope that helps and good luck to you with Lloyds TSB.

    Don't be fobbed off !

This is from the Financial Ombudsman's website:-

[SIZE=-1]"The claim is not limited to the amount of the credit card transaction. Customers can claim for all losses caused by the breach of contract or misrepresentation. And this applies even if all they paid by credit card was the deposit."

  • Does anyone know if Maxjet was bonded by ABTA/ATOL/CAA?

This question has come on my claim form from Natwest Credit Card. It says if it was then i need to complete a claim form from them alongside a letter from the bonding agent informing me to claim.
