Hotelopia Super Booker - this is a genuine ´non-spam` - ´permission based` viral game!
I am responding to the previous post because I wanted to make it clear that Hotelopia does not participate in illicit ´spam` email activities and to also explain the considerations we made when developing this game.
There are so many viral games on the net. I think it is really important for consumers to check the validity and motives of such games and the companies behind them, before they sign up to email lists. But not all online operators are malicious in their intentions.
Hotelopia is a reputable company and like many other companies, we are utilising the net to drive business to our site. We spend a lot of time and effort to ensure that we adhere to best practice guidelines.
We are collecting ´permission` based subscriber email addresses, only once each player reconfirms their wish to subscribe and play - I think that is very clear. We are also offering all subscribers/players a discount voucher to use on Hotelopia, as well as the chance to win some pretty hefty prizes, which I think is a fair exchange. But in the end - it is entirely the choice of the user as to whether they play or not.
When we were developing the game, we were very conscious of ensuring that Consumers were aware of the motives behind the game and the benefits offered to them. We have placed full T&C´s throughout the site and have been very transparent about the usage of the emails we collect.
We do not rent or sell any of our subscriber email addresses and we certainly do not send our subscribers irrelevant, useless spam. It’s a complete waste of time for us and our customers are too important for us to act so unprofessionally. Subscribers are also able to unsubscribe at any time.
The Super Booker game does have a system in place which will reject certain emails that are deemed as invalid or ´spam` to us. This also prevents certain players taking advantage of the game mechanism and artificially increasing their chances of winning. Hence the reason why your email address was probably rejected. Maybe you would like to re-enter the game using a valid email address?
Regarding the prizes, again, as per our terms, no employee or associate of our group is able to play the game and will be rejected. This is a standard legal requirement.
Of course, should any player have feedback, suggestions or issues with the game, they can contact us directly at support@hotelopia-game.com.
I hope this covers most of your concerns, but of course if you have any other comments, please let us know.

So, Laura, what's your relationship to Hotelopia?
You see, you're a new user to MSE and this is your first post, so some other MSErs will be suspicious of you, which is why I'm asking.
(Btw, I'm relatively new to this site too, but I'd like to think that MSErs will trust me if I determine that I trust you. Well, that's the theory anyway)0 -
Hiya,
I work at Hotelopia. The reason I posted the last thread was to provide some insight into the considerations reputable companies make when developing these programmes. My intention isn´t to ´sell`the game - just to provide informed feedback - without being too biased!

That's fine - there have been a number of other companies name on this board who have suddenly had a new poster come in and defend them, but, tbh, said person has then just disappeared into the ether (and they're never open about their relationship to the company in question), so we're very cautious on MSE about new people coming in and being positive about said company.0
