  • From what I read into the RAS post you need the partner involved. £400 is too high for food in a month. If he/you are trying to reduce the debt then this site is really useful but if she isnt involved and keeps spending at levels too high then it will add to the uphill battle.

Sorry if it seems judgemental but this site does and can help.

and yes sorry I think they can take him to court and obtain a ccj. The amount owed though I believe is then set with no more charges.

    hiya

    continue paying what you can
the DCA is unlikely to take you (son) to court if they are getting regular payment, again request every thing is done in writing so yuo have a record of everything if it did go to court at least the judge can see you have been trying to sort this out

    hope this helps :T ;)

Thank you mcjordi , There are no charges going on to this debt and another company took my son to court and they said they couldn't do anything as my son earned less than he needed to live on.I will take the advice and not set up a DD and hope for the best. Thankyou.
  • Radio 01 - I think most people are being tough, as the issue is that this is your son you are dealing with. They are his debts and therefore if you sort it out then it is not getting to the root cause of his debt. This flags up to most DFW's that it will happen again and again till he himself gets his lightbulb moment.

I suppose it is really a bit of tough love for you, from people who do care, sometimes we just like what we hear. We all appreciate that you are trying to help your son, but I feel that most of feel that you are actuallly doing the graft to get him out of debt not him ananlysing his spending etc. I dont think anyone is being judegemental of you, just trying to explain that for this df plan to work it has to involve your son, some strict budgeting and you standing back and being an empathetic and strong supportive Mum but getting him to do the majority of the work.

Sorry if the above is a bit of a ramble, it is very early and is a monday moring!!!
