Fine for parking in a residents bay - no signage
Well a good start to my OH's first day of teacher training at her new school.
She parked in street that had a 'Controlled Zone' sign at the end of the road and parked in an open bay. She spent ages looking to see if it was pay and display or residents parking and could find any signs anywhere to indicate that.
Coming out at the end of the day she found a £100 penalty charge notice for parking in a residents bay.
When she drove down the far end of the street she found a residents parking sign at the entrance to the road from the other end (which is also around a bend).
I would like to send in a letter appealing the charge on the grounds that there were no signs even remotely near the parking bay indicating any restrictions. Can anyone point me in the direction where I could find out whether there are requirements for signs being within a reasonable distance of the bay or at least at the entrance to road at both ends etc?
If she couldn't find anything even when actively looking for them I think they are obviously lacking proper signage but would like to see if there are any proper figures before writing.
Thanks
K

Chances are that it's a private ticket and nothing more than an invoice. It's just a worthless piece of paper and has no place in law. You'll need to scan it in and post it on the above forum.
It's a legitimate Council/NCP issued ticket (as much as you can consider it legitimate) rather than a private one. I'll have a look at that site thanks
