Bath and Body recipe thread?

I had an idea while I was in town today shopping for my first ever rolling pin (Im not exactly sure why I was thinking about having a bath while I was shopping, but anyway...) and got thinking about that Oatmeal Soap Queenie posted the other day, and how I intend to make my pregnant friend a home made body kit along with some other stuff.

But, I dont exactly know what to make her, and as we have a food recipe thread, should we have a bath and body recipe thread? There must be a million and one ideas people have, I personally would love to have a lavender or vanilla bath oil, but I wouldnt know where to start.

So - post your recipes please!! I might set up my own little bedroom factory and everyone I know can have home made body stuff for xmas, birthday, and every other single event that could possibly occur......

Jo xx

p.s I did a search for a thread that might be similar, and I couldnt find one, so if anyone knows there is one - please slap my wrists and send me packin' in the right direction!

That sounds like great idea! :j One of my main vices is nice things for the bath, so a whole thread for recipes would save me so much money! :)

    Good idea, Jo.

After Queenie mentioned the soap the other day, I spent ages looking for the recipe - if only I'd read the thread properly, I'd have seen it sooner!

All I know is that if you mix oats (porridge type) and powdered milk together and hang them in some sort of bag under a running bath tap, you get a lovely creamy bath that's good for your skin. You could fashion little muslin bags with pretty bits of ribbon ready to hang around the tap and make it a special little pressie.

I'll have a think for others.....

I apologise to Queenie for posting her recipe (I copied and pasted from an earlier thread) - Im making it clear right now that I am not the genious behind this recipe, but I have just made it, and used an old fairy cake type baking tray with greasproof paper to dry them out in. They smell delish - even the boyf came into the bathroom and went, mmmm, whats that?? I told him it was soap, he didnt look too impressed (couldnt eat it and he is hungry bless him) but actually wants to use it. I used some bergamot essential oil, one of my faves to wake me up in the morning!

"HM Oatmeal Scrub Soap (By Queenie)

4oz fine oatmeal (or Porrage Oats blended in a food processor until fine)
4oz soap slivers (grated, then processed to breadcrumb like texture)
Oil = 1 - 2 Tbs Sweet Almond Oil with a few drops of essential oil ( I use Lavender EO) I have used Olive oil in the past
    Water = 1 - 2 Tbsp

Put the dry ingredients into a bowl, add the oil and water and mix. The mix should work together like making pastry.
Either, roll into balls or put into a "mold" and leave for 24-48hrs to dry out. (For a "mold" I've used a cut down orange juice carton because of it's "waxy" inside which will help with "unmolding".
I've put mine into the sunny porch to dry out."

Would anyone be able to post the recipe for those bath bomb thingys?
I think ill go internet hunting in the morning for more home made bath goodies, will post back when I find some!

Great idea Jo. I was going to copy them into a body recipe book so I will have a shopping list ready to take.

We have bath bombs and other recipes in our "Save Zillions" index (down at the bottom of the page).

They're listed at the bottom of the save zillions index, honest :)

    Unless you meant something else?

Edit: They were listed but the link wasn't right <blush> I've fixed it.

The direct route to bath bombs is Here though if you use the sticky there are other things listed such as shower gel.
