On a recent visit to New York my youngest was picking up between 15 and 75 cents a day!0

I am a teacher and I am always finding coins around the school. I know a lady I work with collects up all the coins she finds at school and puts them in a jar, she has over £100 just from coins on the floor at school!0

I have always had a penny pot. I was given a jar or sweets and i was only allowed to eat the sweets if i filled the jar up with pennies afterwards
i did it
. That jar sadly smashed last year so i brought myself a plastic teddy bear filled with sweets and have done the same. Each time its filled in goes in a backpack in my cupboard and when i have a clean out i remeber its there and bank it my biggest amount was £450 - i can always remember that day

£450 is a lot of money to have in the house - someone earlier said that they had their coin jar stolen. Also in the time that had been saved up the interest could have been significant. Nothing against coin collecting, just bank it every so often. My bottle only takes about £20 in 1s, 2s and 5s for that very reason!0

I keep a load of coin bags in my tin, as a reminder! As soon as any type of coin gets to the baggable & bankable amount - off it goes to the building society! As I remind my kids, the interest on £1 in the savings account might not be much, but its a jolly sight more than the interest on nothing in the savings account.0

I had a quick look at the article and was quite impressed, I think the weight of all those coins in my flat would make my floors cave in!!
I've always been inspired by my dad who would save most of his change and back in the early eighties he was able to buy a very large wardrobe after a year of saving or less. I'm always finding 1ps and 2ps in my place and pop them in my jar, and when my little cousins come round it's like going a treasure hunt as they always leave with a jingle in their pocket. Pennies make pounds as they say!!

Sometimes the spectators throw coins around at football matches. Wait behind after the game. Once I picked up £4.72 at Anfield.Small change can often be found under seat cushions.

I collect pennies in a bottle, and 5p's in another one. Anything bigger goes in my PIN potComping, Clicking & Saving for Change0
