    Hi OP
If you post up a statement of affairs (SOA), then maybe we can sort out some areas where you can cut back so that you do have some money to pay into a DMP.

    Best of luck

I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?
  • glad to see i not the pnly one that hates hsbc (my sis loves them and says they are always ded helpful?)
i applied for a 0% credit card last year and they turned mre down, not beacuse i have bad credit, they said i had good credit but they didnt like how i was using my credit card at the time (i wasnt!!)
i also threatend them with the banking ombudsman form breaching my dpa. 3 years after informing them of my address change (and countless calls to complain when they didnt) they were still sending my cards and other important letters to my ex's parents house. the only thing they sent to me was adverts for loans, they gave me £50 fior this, good job i know my ex's parents as anybody could have got hold of my bank details. the only reason i didnt take it further was that i ended up in hospital needing an operation so had to worry bout that!!

I had the same problem- i called them and the guy on the phone said they'd change the address over while i was on the phone but they kept sending my statements to my previous address (luckily we were still getting our post redirected at the time) when i went into my local branch to find out why, i was told that they actually can't change peoples address details over the phone and asked if i had spoken to someone british or not!?! It seems their service and rules are absolutely different depending on who you speak to!

    Opticians £10

    Arrears
£400 council tax (to be paid by 31st march)
Rent owed for hostel we were in last year £500 (made arrangment to pay £20/month until clear)

    Debts
HSBC credit card £1300 (min payment approx £35)
    HSBS loan £12500 (£226/month)
    Abbey loan £8500 (£119/month)
Halifax overdraft £146 (account no longer in use- we pay £10 in everytime they send a letter)

(we also owe my mum £150 which she doesn't expect back until we've got the money)

I think thats everything. Our gas, electric and water are all on pre payment meters & we've only been at this property just over 2 months so ive had to guestimate the average monthly spend (its worked out really expensive so far though:sad: ). Also, i know the amount we put by for birthdays is quite high but we have loads of children in our family (we don't buy for the adults or it'd be ridiculously expensive)

Went to open another account & were told we didn't have the right ID- who'd have known they need a statement to back up my debit card and BOTH parts of my driving licence! What a pain!!!!!!

Had a strange conversation with HSBC this morning- a direct debit come out today that we'd forgotten about which made us overdrawn (its the 1st time thats ever happened at our HSBC account) so we phoned up to find out how much we'd be charged and the customer service girl said that we wouldn't be charged because they only charge people for going overdrawn if its the 2nd time in 6months (i thought that was a bit weird but i wasn't going to say anything). Then she asked if i wanted to speak to some other dept to make sure that the direct debit ahd actually been paid and they hadn't been reversed because of the lack of funds & she put us through. The next person we spoke to (quite possibly based in another country) said he couldn't tell if the direct debit had been paid or not so i asked if the money had definately come out & he said yes so i asked ''so its been paid then?'' and he said the system doesn't show that information!!! Very weird. I was thinking this was all a bit odd so i thought i'd better check that we're not going to be charged an unauth overdraft fee and he said we would be charged and the other girl we were talking to was wrong. So i brought up the apparent 'twice in 6months' rule and he said it doesn't work like that and they don't have one set of rules for everyone for charging fees ''it varies from person to person'' (his exact words). I told him that was ridiculous (not so politely) and how can they tell me that they decide who gets a fee depending on what they feel like at the time, basically!!! In the end i told him i would get the real 'facts' from my branch & hung up!

I feel like i'm stuck in a twilight zone!! How are you supposed to get realistic information if every member of their staff tells you something different?

    xx

  • Hi!

Just wanted to say on the whole HSBC thing, we went to remortgage with them the other day as we want to extend our house, they said they couldn't as they didn't think we could afford it, but then she said we could take out a loan for the amount we were asking for!

The thing is on the mortgage it would've been approx £100 more a month & the loan would've been £250 a month so how does that work then???

I totally agree that HSBC is cr£p & we are going to pay off our o/d we have with them as quick as possible & leaving.

Also each time we go overdrawn on our joint account we get charged £25 no matter if it's only £4, but my partner went o/d by £500 on his sole account the other day for about a week and he's not been charged a penny!!! So it appears they do have different charging schemes for different people!

PS I am quite aware that the loan would've incurred less interest in the long run, but we worked out that £120 more a month is do-able, £250 is definately not!
