    H.S.B.C are C.R.A.P!

I'll second that. I've always been a really good customer of theirs until they screwed me over today with a mortgage, so they're well and truly on my 'when i'm rich enough to hire a hitman I'll shoot every one of the ba***rds' list for the moment.

I'd also advise staying away from consolidation loans with HSBC - have heard bad things about them around here in the past. What sort of state is your credit rating in? It might not be a bad idea to try and consolidate it somehow, not necessarily into one big loan, but maybe on to some low rate credit cards with low payments, just until you get back on your feet?

It's probably well worth opening a seperate bank account now though, as if you do end up in difficulties and on a DMP with CCCS or anyone else in the future, your credit rating will probably be trashed, which would make it hard to get even a Switch card.

Good luck, and if you're having a go at them, stick the boot in for me as well!

  • Hi all,

You probably saw this in the news but thought I'd post a link here too:

HSBC are one of my creditors aswell and yep you've guessed it less than helpful when it came to helping me sort out my finances.

So.. please don't take it personally, give CCCS a call I did and its the best thing I've ever done!

I'm still dealing with HSBC as they've not yet sent my accounts to DCA and it can sometimes take a little while. They do still call and I continue to repeat the same story each time that "I'm dealing through CCCS and NO NO NO I don't want a managed loan - you made the national news not so long since - why would I?"

    Good luck :j
  • Hello, firstly on the legal side you are not committing a criminal offence by defaulting on a consumer credit aggrement. The only legal action that could be taken against you is that a judge would set a payment that you could resonably afford. Speak to CCCS about a DMP debt managment plan and they will make sure you make your essential payments. Secondly talk to your creditors. Be polite but don't ask them for advice or help, tell them your situation and what you will be paying them. Whenever they ring speak to them. I have much debt and many creditors. I ring them before they ring me and always respond to any calls they do make. I have as yet not had a bad call with any of them because they always know what is happening.
Its time to nut up or shut up......!

Thank u all very much for all the advice. I cant believe how many of you have been screwed over by HSBC- i always thought they were a brill bank (what a joke!!) Is it possible that HSBC actually stands for Have Some Bad Credit??

CCCS have calculated that we don't have any money left over after costs of living so DMP isn't going to work! I'm really tempted to use my HSBC credit card (that hasn't been used for years) to pay my bills so i can save my bill money to go bankrupt! (bankrupcy is £485 in this area) Maybe thats not such a sensible idea?!

Have CCCS suggested that bankruptcy is a serious option for you?
Why not have a look at the 'Bankruptcy and Living with it' sub-board of this forum. You will get lots of advice and support, and will read how others, myself included, have faced, and learnt to live with, bankruptcy.
PS - £485 is 'National' although the courts will waive the court fee if you are on low income/benefits.

Ive just read this & its made me feel really crap- i can't believe they're getting away with behaving like this.

I actaully remember 2 years ago when my grandad died, we found out that HSBC had given him a £10k loan without an insurance plan despite that fact that he had 2 serious illnesses & 1 terminal 1 and they expected his son to pay it and tried to tell him he'd go 2 prison if he refused!!! He kept refusing & in the end the cleared it! What disgusting behaviour
