Afternoon all...
having been the lucky recipient of a shiny new PS3 for Christmas I'm looking for some advice with regard to a good 22" or 24" monitor which I can run it on as a new HDTV is a tad out of my price range currently and its getting a bit tiresome waiting for the OH to go to bed so I can play on the one big telly in the house (not even gonna attempt running it on any of the other antique display devices scattered around the house).
Have been consider an Acer 2416WB as it's a ruddy good price for a 24"er. Anyone on here got one perchance????
all comments will be most welcome.
TIA chaps and ladies:D

The first thing you need to look for on a monitor used for games is the response time, the lower the better 5 or 6 ms would be fine, but with 12 to 15 ms you might seem some drag and ghosting effects on face moving action sequences. Also a decent contrast ratio (higher figure the better) making a larger differentiation between whites and blacks.
(PS Love your Partridge quote, "Horses running around council estates, that sort of thing" )0 -
thanks isofa, your comments have been noted and are greatly appreciated. I shall scamper off and go compare me some monitor specs!!!
one last thing, hows about 'youth hostelling with Chris Eubank...'0 -

Having revisted the specs for the Acer I previously referred to the response time of 5ms would seem to suffice but not sure what a good ratio for contrast comes in at. The acer's is 1000:1, is that sufficient d'yer reckon?
thanks again...0 -
I use a Hanns G HG216 which is great. It's almost 22" and I think may have been £125.00.
You could cut yourself on that sharp picture! But I'm using a 360 which of course is much superior to that Sony thing.0 -

Sounds ok to me. The refresh rate will be fine.

friend had an Acer monitor and it had terrible motion blur. Specs are all done by the manufacturer and can be slightly warped. Also the response time can be a measure of a variety of things.0
