Gamesgadgetsuk.com WARNING

This is a warning to everyone about buying from gamesgadgetsuk.com.
I ordered a Wii controller on 3rd December 2007 from gamesgadgetsuk and paid £33.98 through Protx. I had a confirmation email from Protx confirming the payment and the order.
I ordered from them as everywhere else at the time were showing as out of stock and they were not.
After not receiving the goods I emailed them twice and got no reply.
On 2nd January 2008 I did a google search for the company and found loads of other people were also having the same problems, non delivery of order and impossible to get money back.
To cut a long story short(er) I emailed them saying if I did not receive a refund within 7 days I would be informing Trading Standards, the Police, Protx, taking them to court and posting details on as many forums as possible to warn other potential buyers.
The 7 days are up, no refund, hence this post.
So, please be warned, do not buy from gamesgadgetsuk.com. Don't just take my word for it, do your own Google search (gamesgadgetsuk.com problems) and read for yourself.
Below is a link to one post on The Consumer Action Group website where some people have had luck with getting a refund after threats of court action etc which may help someone.

One saving grace is that I paid by credit card so hopefully I can get my money back from them or from Protx.

An update to the above...
On 10th Jan I emailed Gamesgadgetsuk with one final warning before I took legal action. The email stated:
Transaction : XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
As I have still not heard from you I will point out the following:- I have today been on the website Money Claim Online (MCOL) which is Her Majesty's Courts Service Internet based service for claimants. The website currently states "The MCOL site is currently experiencing technical difficulties. As a result it has been taken off line until these are corrected". As soon as it is back online I will be filing a claim and court costs and interest will be added to the claim. The final total you will have to pay will be well above the £33.98 refund I am requesting.
- I have already reported you to Rip Off Tip Off the site created by Trading Standards and the DTI.
- I will be contacting BBC Watchdog On-line.
- I will be contacting Consumer Direct.
- I have posted details of my problems with you on one online forum and will continue to do so on a different consumer forum on a daily basis until I receive a full refund.
- I have made an official complaint to Protx.
- I will make a formal complaint to the Police.
Please now make an immediate refund of the £33.98 paid to you to stop court action and the other action listed above being taken against you."
The email had the desired effect and I received back this email the next day:
Dear XXXXXX
I am sorry to hear that you do not appear to have received a response to your previous emails.
Your order was dispatched on 5th December first class royal mail. Obviously this does not provide any tracking details so it is going to be difficult to trace.
We can only assume that it has gone 'missing' within the post office and probably now will not surface.
Your refund will be done within 7 days.
Kind regards
Customer Services
The 7 days are up today so I rang my credit card company to see if the refund has been received, which it had not!
They took details of the transaction and said they would follow it up on my behalf, take the refund back from Gamesgadgetsuk directly and refund me.
I knew they would do this for me in the first place but I wanted to try to get Gamesgadgetsuk to make the refund without getting the credit card company involved.
So if you are in a similar situation then threaten them with legal action as I did, at least you will get a response.
If you can't get a refund directly then do it through your credit card company.
I had also contacted Protx who took the payment but they said they do not hold any funds for Gamesgadgetsuk so could not help, but I did make an official complaint to Protx against Gamesgadgetsuk as they said they monitor complaints and do not want to be associated with dodgy companies.
Also see the link given above to the Consumer Action Group website where many others are having similar experiences with Gamesgadgetsuk.
So in my opinion - DO NOT BUY FROM GAMESGADGETSUK - but if you do, make sure you use your credit card so you are covered, and if you see any other posts on MSE recommending people buy from them, point them towards these warnings.Noli nothis permittere te terere.0 -

Diane your bank will have details of the transaction if you let them know the date and amount they will find it. Tell them what has happened and that lots of other people are having similar problems.
My credit card company refunded me immediately, a good lesson to use a credit card for all online transactions if possible.Noli nothis permittere te terere.0 -
