PaintShopPro problem

I hope someone has some suggestions! I am using Paint Shop Pro to remove backgrounds from pictures using the 'Background Eraser' tool. Yesterday it stopped automatically merging layers, but I could do that manually. Now it won't do anything at all after I select the Background Eraser too - I can't save the file, merge the layers etc etc. The error message is 'Unknown error occurred with command BackgroundEraserFix-up' . This doesn't bring up anything with a google search. I have version 9.01 but Jasc is now owned by Corel and I can't find anything on the website (it's all about version X). I have loads of pictures to edit and a tight deadline and any help would be appreciated (I'm up to date with all windows/office update in case that made a difference and I've done the standard re-start computer and cross fingers thing a few times already!).

EDIT: just to add that sometimes the whole program crashes with the error and sometimes the error message comes up in the script output. i haven't been able to work out what makes it do either (i do the same thing each time with unpredictable results!)

Have you tried reinstalling psp?

I have Paint shop pro as well. I even bought a "How to" book but still i cant do background eraser ! Flipping program is too complicated

no - it was installed by work (laptop at home). won't be in until tomorrow so can ask for it to be done then, but that loses me time today and however long it will take them to get round to it tomorrow!!

i did actually find that with more digging - i have that version and when i tried to do an update anyway it started telling i didn't have an english version (when i clearly do). i think IT tomorrow is the way forward!

the annoying thing is that up to yesterday i've been doing it and it's all been fine!


i can now save pictures if i click on the save icon 3ish times (error the first couple of times then it decides to do it - how on earth that does work?!?!). and i can use background eraser if i don't then switch to normal eraser - it's the changing between them that causes the crash (which i'm sure is all to do with the layers not merging properly). i think i should work in QA - i now have a 'replicable error'!!

thanks so much for the help - if i find out the random cause of the problem tomorrow at work i will let you know!

just to update - the library was somehow corrupted (at least i break things properly when i do it!). all reinstalled and fine now. thanks for all hte help with it!
