Mouldy shower curtain

I have this problem, as I've just moved into a furnished house, and the rest of my housemates keep bunching the curtain up.
Never knew vinegar would help... Will rinse the curtain with it, once I've bleached it.0 -
Hi,
I always put my shower curtain (even the one made from thicker plastic) into the washing machine with either some bleach or after I sprayed it all over with Oxi. But I believe bleach is better as you need to use quite a lot of Oxi spray.
I always put it on 60C and put all cleaning cloths I can find in the house with it to make sure they rub it off.
I repeat this once about every 2-3 months.0 -
Hiya, I've got a mouldy shower curtain (and the bathmat isn't great either), I was told to use washing crystals or something and soak in the bath overnight
I've got an enamel bath and I'm a little worried I might damage it plus I have never heard of washing crystals (is it just cheap washing powder?), so can someone recommend a good cleaner for my thinkgeek plastic showercurtain (might be vinyl not sure and does it matter???)Tim0 -
i used to put ours in the washing machine it used to come out nice and clean got a glass screen now thou0

Hi Tim,
There's an earlier thread that should give you some ideas so I've added your post to it to keep the suggestions together.
This thread may help with the bath mat: Mouldy bath mat

I stand a bucket in the bath with Milton/Tesco Sterlising Fluid and water in it then dangle the bottom of the shower curtain in the bucket. If the mould is a long way up the curtain I stand a chair in the bath with the bucket on it. This way I don't have to take the curtain down or fill the bath with cleaning products.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -
Try soaking the shower curtain in Napisan. I leave mine soaking for about an hour, then pop them in the washing machine with another scoop of Napisan. Works brilliantly.0

Hello all, hope the answer to this isn't elsewhere - did a search but couldn't find anything. Our plastic shower curtain gets all mouldy round the bottom [bit like myself ]. Just washing it in the machine doesn't get that off so does anyone have any ideas. It look nasty but I don't want to buy a new one. I have trained everyone to pull the curtain over after a shower so it does get a chance to dry.
Thanks, Teapot0 -
