My morphy richards does squeak and I add a few drops of veg oil to the rotary bit where it fits in the oven base, not the bottom of the tin but actually the hole where it sits in the machine itself .That sorts it for a few weeks then I do it again.0

I have the Russell Hobbs Ultimate - it got very noisy after not such a long time. It was recommended that veg oil was used. I tried it inside the tin, but to no avail. It was the workings underneath that needed oiling. I have an oil sprayer, so periodically, when it started getting noisy, i used to spray a small amount on and I though all was OK .....
until one day I couldn't work out how I had heard the machine working but the dough hadn't mixed. Turns out that the veg oil had obviously managed to work it's way into the workings of the machine and something was slipping, so that the paddle would turn when it was empty but couldn't manage it when the tin actually had ingredients in.
Of course, I tried to fix it, but they put weird screws on so you can't take it to bits. Gave up and bought a new one. I won't be trying THAT hint again in a hurry!!0 -
I have a Panasonic one and I only hear it when its mixing the dough, otherwise the smell is the only way I know its on!

I've got a Panasonic as well, it is the quietest breadmaker I've ever used, I had it on today and its only the lovely smell and the beep when it's finished that reminds you that you are cooking bread. So I wonder if yours is ok, as far as I know the pannys dont make much noise at all.0 -
Solved the noise problem with my Panasonic breadmaker. (really loud!) Put your bread pan into the breadmaker, twist to lock in, then stuff in a silicon oven mitt in the gap. Problem solved. You need to use silicon as it is good up to 200C, and bread bakes at 170. Locking the pan in position stops the pan going back and forth, the paddle in the pan mixes the bread so no problem. I make bread almost every day.0
