Best time to switch?
I'm a southern electric customer - I've had no problems and I love the customer service. I've underpaid on my gas this year and overpaid on electricity but the two equal themselves out (it's less than 18 overpaid (gas) and 14 underpaid (elec), so not a big deal).
I spend roughly 25 on gas, 22 on electricity (just raised to 25 to cover the underpay) throughout the year regardless of the season.
I've been on uswitch and found that scottish power is cheaper by about £70 for their 'green' (ish) tarrif as it'll be dual fuel. I will happily switch to save some cash, but I'm worried the moment I do with the current climate of rising prices, I might switch into a supplier that pushes their prices up extortionately!
Saying that, I don't know if southern electric are about to hike their prices either!
also I've only been with them for 9 months, can I switch whenever I like or am I in a contract? I didn't sign up for them, they were just the default provider when I bought my house in May.
