oh no is my computer broken?

I need some expert advice! My desktop pc isn't working now!! (I asked about my sisters before lol)

I switch it on and it loads windows xp logo then the screen goes black, I really need it to work as I have precious photos of my kiddies on there! If I took the hard drive out and put it in my sisters comp, how the hell do I do that lol!!

My computer is only 5 years old so surely it should have broken yet?

When it boots up, just before it gets to the windows logo screen, press the F8 key. From the options select "safe boot". Tell us what happens then.

boot from the xp installation disc and select the repair option, fixes a lot of startup problems.
