Insurers don't seem to be bothered in making their prices competitive for me?!
Options
Just got my renewal quote from ecarinsurance.co.uk at £514.07. I was impressed as not long ago I got a quote to check what it might be likely to be and this is definitely not an inflated renewal. I am also happy this is cheaper than the last premium of just over £700.
However, I have checked confused.com, moneysupermarket.com, comparethemarket.com, tescocompare.com and no insurers are anywhere near. Absolute cheapest quote I got was ftom tescocompare.com for Swinton at £544.15 Third Party Only excluding legal cover (although Swinton's site said £569.15). My policy with ecar is Third Party Fire Theft and includes legal cover and commuting, which none of the other quotes did. I did more than one quote on the sites, for different levels of cover, to see if I could get them down but didn't have any luck.
So for me all other quotes are higher, and with less cover. I suppose I need more NCD than 1 year for the insurers to get excited? I suppose I can only give ecar the thumb up for not inflating the renewal quotes like all other insurers do.

I just got my renewal through and it was over £300 after a phone call it came down to £281. Checked on confused.com and it is coming at £168!!
Phoned my current insurer and they dropped to £255 (still no good)
Any dings, claims, points and lack of NCB soon pushes it up.0 -

could be that your postcode is now a higher risk than before (or your occupation/car/status)
when the insurer i used to work for decided that actually people with children weren't likely to be safer drivers than those without (using stats) lots of people found that quotes shot up because they had children*
*initial thoughts were that people with kids in the car would drive safely because of the kids. stats showed more accidents in that group than expected, perhaps because said parents weren't concentrating on the road, they were busy yelling at their kids :A MSE's turbo-charged CurlyWurlyGirly:AThinks Naughty Things Too Much Clique Member No 3, 4 & 5

Anewman, with so little NCB you should consider ecars Pay as you Go policy, it gives you another years NCB after 8 months meaning in September you'd have 2 years NCB.
They put it on the cover note as x Years NCB so other insurers accept it too.0 -
Think yourself lucky I'm looking at £1,000+ this year!"I'm not from around here, I have my own customs"

What car is it?, When renewing I tried all the compare the market type sites, and they were all dire coming up with prices around £700, I did another search to see if there was an owners forum for my car and there was, and after asking the kind folks there I got a quote for £420.0
