Im off to the states in a couple of months does anyone know if PS3 are out there, how much, and would they work over here?

Dunno, but bear in mind they will be NTSC format, check if you have the options to change it to PAL.0

They won't be out anywhere until at least next easter.
If you were to get one abroad then you would need to ensure that your TV was compatible ith NTSC and you would also have to purchase a step - down transformer to change our voltage 240v down to a compatible 110V.
