in Credit cards
I have finally got the acceptance letter back after weeks of waiting after signing the contract. However, they have said lovely, £200 credit limit if you give us a £200 deposit. Thing is, there is nothing on my credit reports, I have full address history, and am not in any kind of debt, with the exception of my student overdraft, and student loans (I am just finishing my degree).
I simply dont get it???
Is it worth ringing them and saying - hello, can you please reduce the deposit please, as I want to build credit, and my credit reports are completely clean??
Has anyone ever done this with success - or no success? I should probably just throw the forms away, as I simply dont have a spare £200 knocking around until I start getting paid, and only want to use the card for food shopping (about £100 a month to be paid in full each and every month) - so - I dont see the point in giving them my £200!
Any help or advice appreciated...

Hi jw1096, well, there's really no harm giving them a toll-free call to appeal the deposit. Also have you tried Barclaycard Initial, it's fairly easy to get, slightly better credit limit and I didn't have to pay any deposit.
By the way, you should know that the only way to get your security deposit back is by closing your C1 account. I will be getting my £200 back from C1 as I've recently cancelled my card. Funny the letter states I'll get my £49 security deposit back when I actually paid £200, templates are fun. All the best!I know nothing0 -
I got a C1 letter today. They want £139
Can't afford that, especially not in one go.
BC Initial declined me too0
