I have just finished writing a letter to Pizza hut, and I thought I would share it with you :)

I hope you have as much fun reading it as I had writing it!

I will update the thread when I get a reply ;)

Cheers, Des.

Pizza Hut

Borehamwood,

Dear Sirs,

While browsing the Pizz Hut UK website while deciding what to order for our dinner, I noticed your rather tempting offer of a “Super Value Deal”, it seemed like it would fit the bill with a Large Pizza, Garlic Bread and potato wedges all for the wallet tempting price of £13.99 (£1.49 extra for stuffed crust).

I go to the “find your local pizza hut” section of your website to order the previously mentioned wallet tempting, mouth watering, “Super Value Deal” only to find out that the “find your local pizza hut” section of your website doesn’t provide the phone numbers for the stores to let me order.

Now you may be thinking, oh he is annoyed that the phone numbers are not listed on the website for the local stores, and he is about to tell us that he just went to his local Dominoes instead.

But, no, at this stage the previously mentioned wallet tempting, mouth watering, “Super Value Deal” was firmly placed in the section of my brain that drives desire and decision making. So, being the adventurer that I am, I logged on to the BT website, and procured the telephone number for the store that I was going to order from.

At this stage, having all the required information, I approached Mrs. GXXXX and proceeded to tell her about the previously mentioned wallet tempting, mouth watering, “Super Value Deal” which was only £13.99 (£1.49 extra for stuffed crust) and asked her if that was suitable for our evening feast.

As she was agreeable ( in a fit of non-typical behaviour) I provided her with the previously mentioned difficult to get hold of telephone number to the Pizza Hut store and asked her to order the dinner. I grabbed my jacket and jumped in the car to proceed to the Pizza Hut store and collect our wallet tempting, mouth watering, “Super Value Deal” , half Meat Feast, and half Super Supreme, in case you are interested!

Arriving at the store, tempted wallet in hand, I provided my name and asked if my order was ready. Joy of joys, I didn’t even have to wait, my wallet tempting, mouth watering, “Super Value Deal” was ready!

My wallet sprung into action spewing the preferred card to make payment in a haste that is rarely seen. The friendly staff member proceeded to swipe said card and provided me with a piece of paper looking for my autograph, as is standard procedure in this type of transaction.

As is normal for someone of my disposition, (not Scottish by birth, but by affinity) I checked the amount before providing my valuable autograph. Shock! Horror!, my saliva stopped flowing, my wallet went limp, my previously blocked out thoughts of Dominoes were bubbling to the surface of my conciousness, in fact I think, but cannot be certain, that my heart may have missed two beats…

…Yes, you guessed it, the wallet tempting, mouth watering, “Super Value Deal” which you advertised on your website at the price of £13.99 (£1.49 extra for stuffed crust) was in fact charged at the wallet tightening, dry mouthed price of £14.99 as indicated on the copy of the receipt that I have enclosed.

So, to cut a long story short, could you please ensure that the price advertised on your website accurately reflects the price charged in your store, I’m sure it is just an oversight and will be rectified promptly, if you could let me know that would be great.

Regards,

DesG

Pretty nitpicky for 1 pound isn't it? Tear the letter up, chill out and enjoy a good red. Even though you never mentioned it - were the pizza's nice?
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

You're kind of missing the point, I didn't do it for the £1, I did it for a bit of fun. In fact, I didn't even ask for my pound back, just that they charge the same amount as they advertise.

I am sure the pizzas were nice, Pizza Hut are always nice :) (Mind you the fact that they are less than half the price in NZ annoys me, which reminds me of the first time I was in Pizza Hut in Auckland ordering a take-out. I looked at the menu, and reckoned that when I converted the price back to good ole pounds that the price must be for a couple of slices instead of the whole pizza (don't ask me exactly what gave me that impression) so I ordered 3 portions (which worked out at about what a single pizza would cost back in the UK) imagine my surprise when 3 whole pizzas were given to me :) )

    Cheers, Des.

Oh OK....my apologies, I am stuffed up in the head today with a head cold feeling miserable and out of sorts. I prefer Dominoes pizza's myself although not sure if you have them. They usually do deals with 3 Pizza's pick up $20. Which is about 8 pounds over there. So ours is a lot cheaper too. :T

We had a problem with Pizza Hut before. Think you will find that the Northern Ireland outlets come under Pizza Hut Ireland not UK, hence difference in pricing etc. Frustrating I know, bit like the situation on the Lidl thread. Raw Deal for NI again, methinks.

LOL nice letter, we had the same problem with pizza hut - checked online, phoned order through, went to collect and they wanted an extra 3 or 4 quid. we queried it and they said they didn't do the offer. I pointed out it stated they did online, they argued that it was an old offer, i pointed to the poster in their window and on their counter not 6 inches away and after a bit of a flap they gave me the money back :)

Forgot to say...for those of you who love to eat at Pizza Hut even though they don't always have the offers on that you expect, some savings can be made.

I am registered with the https://www.pigsback.com site. Among all their offers (which are too numerous to mention) I often use their Pizza Hut 20% off one. There are limitations on same and it is not always available on site, but certainly worth keeping an eye open for it.

Have used it in the Carrickfergus, Ballymena, Glengormley and Bangor branches in the past.

  • If in Belfast, Mama Mia's on the Lisburn Road (just beside Tates Ave traffic lights) have a permanent BOGOF on their pizzas. Average cost for 2 full size, fully loaded pizzas is about £8-9. Tasty too, although the Volcano is a bit messy.
