WFTC is the old system (along with Children's Tax Credit). Working Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit is the new system, but they are administered together and you apply for them on the same form. Your award notice will specify what it is you are getting.
Spendless is spot on with the childcare. If you do start work as well, whether you get childcare support through tax credits depends on your income level. We can help you with that if it is of interest.

I agree with Spendless, you need to check you are getting. Changes in the amount of tax credits have nothing to do with if your child has started school or not - the only extra help available for younger children is if you have a child under one year old. Tax credits pay nothing extra for school dinners or anything else. You can spend it on what you like.....down the pub if you wish!
