in Credit cards
I feel stupid that its taken so long to realise I'd been fobbed off but now I know, I'm seething
Cutting a long story as short as poss: Last January, I missed a payment by 2 days and was charged a late fee on my 0% A&L credit card statement. I rang to see if they'd let me off but they wouldn't but I set up a standing order so I wouln't miss again!
Now the stupid part, when my statements came in I noticed the interest charge (before the late charge) and was told it was because of the Payment Protection I was paying, it was only pence so I never questioned it again. AFTER the late charge, I just filed my statements and today I noticed the interest had become pounds and queried it. I was told that after my late charge I had lost the 0% and have been paying 16.9% which lately increased to 19.9%
AT NO TIME WAS I TOLD THAT I'D LOST THE 0% OPTION! Not when I begged them not to charge me and no letter either!
Is there anything I can do to get my money back? I'm waiting for a manager to call back but......
Any advice??

Hi Tynie
As far as I'm aware, that's often a standard part of 0% credit card Terms & Conditions. If you make a late payment you lose that 0% privilege, and it's not something they have to tell you about as it's part of the Terms & Conditions, not just something they applied to you.
However, if they actually said to you that the extra amount was the PPI, then whether or not they told you about the 0% interest thing, they may have misinformed you *if* that interest wasn't the PPI after all.
You could try explaining that you were informed it was a PPI charge hence didn't realise you'd been charged the 16.9%. But saying that 'no-one told you you'd lost the 0% interest privilege' probably won't get you very far as I expect it is in their T&Cs which you'll be referred to.
I think it might be one of those 'lesson now learned - won't do it again' things.
Sorry I can't be more help. I'm sure someone else will correct me if there is something you can do.
KiKi' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0 -

I had this problem last week with MBNA. I set up a DD for a minimum payment of £50.00.
I did a 1.9% BT of £3500 capped at £50, They wanted £61. No problem I though becuase of the DD.
Next bill I had late payments of £11 plus interest of £40, I was bloody fuming.
I rang the loyallty department and they admitted their mistake, They refunded the charge and reinstated the special rate.
I admit I was bloody fuming, The set the DD as a fixed rate of £50 not a minimum of £50. Three hours of stress but sorted out now.nothing.0
