Dell customer services

Hi, just got off the phone to Dell and its like bashing my head against a wall!

I have asked for their complaints department address and intend to write a letter to them this evening. I ordered a desktop from them before xmas for my daughter and its remained sealed in a box since returning from her grandparents last week. She now realises that a laptop would have been a much more sensible choice! (please dont ask!)
What i wanted to do was return the unopened desktop computer to dell and exchanging it for a laptop, and paying any difference.

I was told there returns and exchanges are for 7 days only, even though it was xmas they dont make any allowances. I dont want a refund just an exchange. They were no help what so ever.

Has any one had experience of writing to customer complaints???
Or trying to return/exchange to Dell??

thanks

You could try talking direct to their Irish centre, rather than the Indian one on: 00353850 333 200

Always found the support from the Indian call centre at Dell to be utterly useless. However never had any major problems, so normally fix/replace components myself.

I don't think you are going to get much luck, if it only had a 7 day period, then that is the T+Cs you are bound too. You can't really blame Dell for this.
They might take it back and sell it to another customer for les through their outlet, but you'd end up loosing money in this transaction for sure.

If you get no joy with a swap. Best bet is it sell, as "sealed and brand new" on eBay.

I agree with converse im affraid aimme13. I dont think they will be of much help, i dont know what there criteria is for their outlet. I have just purchased a Dell about 10mins ago. There is a good site which details all of dells current offers - http://www.dmxdimension.com/ ...click on Dell UK Deals and then laptops. The site has all dells lastest deals and there is currently a 10% voucher on there which just saved me £70!!! HURRY through the offer ends at MIDNIGHT TONIGHT!

A few months ago I wrote to:

It took them ages to deliver a laptop I'd ordered, and I did manage to get some money back, so it may be worth a try.

    Best of luck!

thanks for your replies, i realise that they have done nothing wrong, but I was so frustrated earlier after I got off the phone. That is the address I finally got, it was impossible to understand even when she was spelling the address.

I will write to them and explain, had thought about selling it on ebay but wasnt sure how much I would loose.

    Thanks again for your help
