Just to update...a really helpful lady at EDF has processed my refund of £1580, cheque sent yesterday.
They accepted their error and have prepared a quote to start afresh on a new 12 month business contract if I choose to.
I do not owe more on the old tarriff.
Thank you MSE....I will now be able to compare with tarrifs that I was quoted from Uswitch....should reduce bill by £400pa!

Be careful with the tariff issue though, they are minimum term contracts and thats harsh in your case as I'm sure you want the option to switch.
