MFI - please help me to return the blinking furniture

Options
Hi, I ordered a bedroom furniture set - drawers, bedside cabinet and wardrobe in November. The first delivery had everything except one package for the wardrobe and was told that it would be delivered in Dec. I put up the bedside cabinet with no problems but when I unpacked the drawer unit I found the two of the pieces that makes up the side and back of the drawer was broken. I put it together minus the two drawer that had broken parts.

The wardrobe part did not arrive on the day they said it would so I wasted a day for nothing. They have now set 5 parcels which were suppose to be replacement bits for the drawer - the first one had extra space part except the one I wanted!, the second was just a bag of random screws, the third, four and fifth were the right bits but arrived broken!!!

I have phoned and emailed on numerous occasions and now just want rid of the whole lot so I can buy the furniture from another company.

How do I stand re. a refund as some of the furniture i.e. the bedside cabinet and the a drawers have been assembled or part assembled as in the case of the drawers. The wardrobe has not been assembled as I am still waiting for the missing part!

Any advice re. my consumer rights would be gratefully received. They have mentioned a goodwill gesture but won't discuss this until I have all the furniture. Thank you.

just call them and state that the items where not fit for their purpose so in effect therefore as they were faulty/damaged you are seeking them to collect the items and for you to be refunded

Thank you for your replies. The broken item was sent out again today and was again broken inside the parcel. I am going to ask them for a refund as it is not fit for purpose - wish me luck.
  • Good luck!

We had the exact same problem last year with our bedroom suite we ordered. We tried a refund while waiting for broken and missing parts to be corrected. They wouldnt/couldnt - we did letters and calls to managers etc but absolutly awful. All the right parts did turn up and then they refunded 20% off the total cost by cheque....that took months ofcalls and letters. It actually took 9 months to finalise it all from the date i ordered it. YET, i ahve still gone back and ordered a extra unit from the current sale. We have ahd to reinforce every unit...but they look good visually!

We ordered a sideboard... NEVER EVER AGAIN... it arrived broken we waited weeks for them to pick it up, the second one arrived again it was broken.. eventually they refunded our money and said we could either keep it or dump it.. I insisted they came and picked it but waited weeks yet again...

I will NEVER order anything from them again...

Well MFI have collected the furniture and refunded all except the £15 postage. As the goods were not suitable for the intended use should I get the p+p back as well?

    Thanks in advance. fesdufun
  • I had to fight for the P&P charges because even though I returned everything because of numerous faults etc they failed to see how it was their fault!!!

In any event, once I told them it was a case of refund me or Moneyclaim online they made a "good will gesture" and gave me my money back

no the p& p you get back and should NOt have been deducted

the error was on their behalf in not checking th good before or letting the goods get damaged in shoipping

if it was the case that you had simply changed your mond then the p&p could be held back by them
