Hi all

Does anyone know any good websites to find a cheap car?

I am after a Diesel Estate with aircon not too botherd about age or looks as it will be a funcyional car rather than a posey one.

Cheers

PS dont bother telling me about autotrader I already have it.

Ebay is the obvious choice, cos so long as you don't mind the possibility of travelling, you're almost guaranteed to find somehting fairly quickly.

Also, adtrader/loot, though I don't think they automatically put all ads on the websites, just those originally entered via the web.

Also, depending on your location, www.eastcoastsalvage.co.uk , they sell reposessed vehicles, ex company cars, ex fleet, some accident damaged, but most in good nick. Cheap, but mileage can be high on some.

    Thanks again,

Does anyone know anywhere like that in the Hampshire area? I am not botherd about minor cosmetic damage or high (motorway) mileage so ex company cars are no prbs.

Dont know which part of Hampshire you are in, but I have heard loads of people get bargains at the car auctions at Blackbush Airport (which is a few miles over the Surrey border).

Have you tried using Autrader on the net https://www.autotrader.co.uk
You can access this free and add various filters, ie find cars within various distances from your chosen postcode, max/min price range, max/min mileage, make model colour etc.

has anybody bought from this company, seem very good for price and selection of cars. is there anything to watch, ie any insurance problems (cat c or cat d write offs etc).
what is the typical "high mileage" for say an 02 plate car.

    cheers

I bought a minibus from a chap who bought it from East Coast Salvage. It was ex Royal Mail, and had low mileage, only 52,000, and diesel too.

It was still cheap when I bought it from him, and he made a profit too.

It was a great vehicle, and I shoul dnever have allowed myself to be persuaded to get rid.

Anyhoo, that's how I first heard about them, as the keyring had their advert on it. They didn't used to be online, but now they are it's super, as you don't have a long trip only to find they don't have what you want.

As for th ehigh mileage, I only say this because my friend called them, and they told her that the type of car she wanted was typically ex company car, with high mileage. So not all will have high mileage I guess.

Anyhoo, if youget anything from there, let us know what you think.
