Car repair through insurance

Our car was rear ended in December. The other car had the front quite badly damaged, but ours appeared to be undamaged apart from some scuff marks on the rear bumper

We did however want it checked out incase there was some damage that wasn't visible and the car went in yesterday to the insurers approved accident repair centre.

Today I find out that we won't get the car back for another week, but also in their list of things to be repaired include items that were damaged before the accident and therefore nothing whatsoever to do with the accident e.g. driver side mirror.

I don't know what to do, if anything. My insurer has apparently approved the repairs.

Is this sort of thing normal in the car repair industry ?

What if the other insurer disputes the repairs ? Is this likely ?
