tuning video in to tape of cable

we have cable tv. but i don't know how to tune video in to record anything. can anyone help please

Is the VCR connected to the cable box? It should have a scart socket specifically for that purpose.
You should then be able to record using the AV Input setting on the VCR.
If you let us know the make/model of your VCR and Cable box, it would help with giving more specific instructions.0
