You may have seen articles in the newspapers this week about airline prices.
In did a search on Ryanair for a flight to Alicante and out of all the airlines it was the cheapest. I went to book it and found out the hidden flaw! They then charge you on top £14 per bag you want to take!
Turns out the price is not so cheap afterall.
Some airports are now allowing passengers to take 2 hold bags when trvelling. However, please note that some airlines (Like Ryanair & Easyjet) are not complying with these changes and will still charge you for the extra bags. They either charge you online if you let them or if you wait till you get to the airport it will be more expensive.

Each passenger is permitted to check in up to a maximum of 3 bags combined weight of 15kgs subject to the payment of the applicable checked baggage fees. Checked baggage booked online is charged at a discounted rate of £5/€6 for the first bag and £10/€12 for each additional bag. If checked baggage fees are paid either at the airport or through a Ryanair call centre, the standard rate of £10/€12 per bag will apply.
Most Low Cost Air Lines have prices for checked in bags although the above T&C's suggest that RyanAir is only £5 which as far as I know is the same as EasyJet and Flybe.2020 Mortgage-Free Wannabes #20 £1495.03/£2760 OP0 -

Absolute rubbish. You have always been allowed more than one hold bag.
They do not charge you £14 per bag. They charge £5 per sector per bag, plus a £2 per sector airport check in fee.
If you don't like it, then check in online and take hand luggage only (they allow 10kgs).
They do not hide these fees ... I really don't see your problem.Gone ... or have I?0 -
If the airport you're travelling through allows you to pass security with two pieces of luggage in your hands then Ryanair staff are not going to demand that you pay as you board the plane.0

I thought that the new regulations over baggage applied to hand baggage on which the restrictions have been dropped for some airports, but which carriers are allowed to impose as they see fit. The reason budget airlines don't want people to take on too much hand luggage is because it increases the turnaround time for loading and unloading and they work to very tight schedules. If you want a more luxurious flight where the cost includes these things, then there are carriers available. The reason Ryanair and other budget airlines can afford to offer such cheap flights is because they don't automatically include fees for this kind of thing allowing those who do not require these services to pay less for their flight rather than subsidising everyone for services they may not require.0
