Advice please..interview with compliance officer

Hi all

I am looking for some advice on the following.

I have recently recieved a letter that I need to go into my local dwp office for an interview with the compliance officer, before I recieved this letter I had already stopped claiming IS at the beginning of december.

Can anybody shed any light onto the nature of this,my benefits were paid into a joint bank account with my bf,who has started residing with me but has had post coming to my address sometime prior to him moving in and he has also just started a new well paid job and his tax code notification came to my address as well, could all of this be the reason they want to speak with me and also could they have been looking into our joint account without his permission?

Any advice on this matter will be greatfully received.

It could be that they think you were part of a couple that lived together, give them a call and ask them what is it about :)

maybe you will have to prove where he lived before you ended your claim.

If they have adequate evidence to suggest something might be a bit fishy then they don't need his permission to look at his accounts - think about it this way, they wouldn't notify you because then you could make money disappear from the account.

None of this is to suggest in any way anything has gone on but all you can really do is go and speak to them and find out what the problem is.

How does he go about prooving where he has lived as all his post of any importance came to me, i supose the only thing he could do is to get his mother to vouch for him if they would accept that, something that i have just remembered was when i put his name on my bank ac to make it joint under his details it was his address not mine so i supose if they have looked into the ac they should have seen that.

    Thanks for all your input

I'm confused? Why would you have a joint bank account with someone you didn't even live with? Why would he use your address for work and anything of any importance if he didn't live with you?

At least its not an interview under caution with a fraud investigator. So it could be the DWP dont have much evidence.

If something was wrong tell the compliance officer because they will treat it as an overpayment only and not take any criminal proceedings. This should be explained to you by the interviewing officer at the outset

Probably best to start your own thread seeing as this one is a few years old. But to answer your question yes he will still have to attend regardless of his situation now.
