If you had an account with them before all the fuss
Northern Rock are paying a 0.5% bonus on amoounts with them between Jan and March 1, which added to their 6.49% rate makes an amazing short term bonus, and of course it's 100% safe for any amount (unlike icici icebank etc)

Yes it is - it's 0.5% bonus for the 2 months of Jan and Feb, = 3% annual more or less, +6.49 = 9.49
Sorry, but it is 0.5% bonus. I.e. 6.49 + 0.5% = 6.99%.In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -
(my emphasis) Erm - no it's not. It's as safe as ICICI, IceSave.and of course it's 100% safe for any amount (unlike icici icebank etc)
The unlimited guarantee only applies to funds that were with NR at the time, and this guarantee may be withdrawn with 6 months notice.
All other funds are subject to the #35,000 limit that applies to other banks.Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries0 -

Not now;-
"Shares in Northern Rock soared by 21% today after the government threw the bank another lifeline by protecting all its current and future savings accounts indefinitely."

That was October. I believe they later revoked the additional protection for anyone joining after some time in December (anyone else remember more clearly?), as it simply wasn't either economical or necessary any more. Not now;-

Halifax have a 3 month fixed rate Web at 6.95%. A heading claiming, therefore 'Halifax pay 27.8%' (4x 6.95%) ...... would be wrongIf you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0
