Beware ATM's That charge

Options
Beware of the ATM machines in service areas.
I recently visited the services on the M18/M180 near Doncaster. I went into fuel up and whilst paying I noticed a cash Machine, I was going to draw some cash from it and when it said the transaction would cost £1.75 I cancelled the transaction. I then went over to the Main building and withdrew £100 from the Nationwide cash machine, this service was free. However when I recently checked my bank account, I noticed that the first transaction had showed up on my statement  so although I had cancelled the transaction it had still gone through so my account is down £101.75. at present this is under investigation. [glow=red,2,300][/glow]so check your Bank statements after using these machines.

they are evil, one charged me £3 a few days ago for getting a tenner but inside the club the bouncers didnt let you go out and back in again and the bar didnt take cards >:(

A friend told me a similar story about using a cash machine in a shop - there was no indication until it came up on screen that there was a charge but they found they had been billed on their statement . They cancelled the transaction too.

I have been trying to warn everyone about this problems months ago but it's just that nobody seems to be taking any notice or taking it seriously - until they get stung by the charge!

I still think we should boycott the machines which you have to pay for!

My local pub has one now, they then stopped doing cashback and tabs (unless eating food), therefore if I don't have cash on me I keep paying by switch.
I wouldn't bother going to that club anymore Fragster just out of principle, says how much they value their customers! :(

I've always boycotted these damn machines that are popping up EVERYWHERE, I'm amazed by the amount of people who use the one in the local, I mean the landlord is getting enough money out of the beer/pool table/fruit machines for god's sake! >:(

  • I agree. However, the reasons I have been told is that that Bar staff do not have time to check signatures.....

And for some reason there's a lot of fraud, which causes the lanlord hassle.
