Virgin V Delta...With a twist!

Good point about Continental-from personal experience I'd give them the edge over Delta-but not by a huge amount. Definitely worth considering though.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Virgin are getting a pretty bad bashing on here! For what its worth I still think Virgin offer a very good product. They do have this reputation though which a lot of people think they do not live up to. I guess this is a hangover from the '80s and 90's when Virgin were the new kids on the block, with their brash advertising and total contrast to BA, and of course the better service offerings.
However the market is very different today, and Virgin have had to mature as an airline. There are many reasons for this, one of the main reasons is of course being cost, to survive they have had to cut costs and of course that means service. But that is todays market. Virgin today is just another airline (in economy at least), although I still think their product is very good.
Anyway, I would also say try Continental from Manchester, they are often very competitive and their service is as good as any.0 -
Thank you for your imput.
When I went back to book the Delta flights had gone up to 570 and the connecting flight via Atlanta had an overnight connection which we can not go for as we have to be back by Sept 1st (7 year son old starting new school on 2nd)
The Virgin flight has now gone up by 7.00 pp and we still have not booked!!
Just don't know what to do. We have never paid these prices for flight as we have always taken the children out of school before. It's criminal what they charge in August!
What we want is man to NYC 18th Aug... NYC to MIA/FLL 20th Aug... MIA/FLL to MAN..31st Aug.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks

TIP for you Nikki. When looking at flight prices and returning to the same websites you might like to try deleting your cookies first as the airline will have tracked your previous visit and will know you're interested by returning to them.
I'm not saying this works EVERY time, but believe me it does work.0 -
Don't just checkout expedia-often travelocity and airline-network have better prices also the airline's own sites. Don't forget the Mastercard deal with American Airlines too who also fly from Manchester (I've yet to see expedia equal or beat the AA fares on their own site)I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

actually the flights to and from NY in august are relatively cheap ...if you are then going on to florida there's so much choice on internals that you shouldn't have a problem...you may have to wait for some cheap fares to come out

Are you pricing these as one ticket or two ? It may work out cheaper to buy a NYC to MCO (Orlando) with a low cost carrier like Jetblue or South West seperately and buy an open jaw ticket Manchester New York & Orlando London.
Also check out American airlines Mastercard offer.
Don't just rely on Expedia-check the airline sites direct and also look at Opordo and travelocity also airlinenetworkI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
