Coupons refused by till at Tescos

All four of my coupons, ranging from 30p to £5.50, were rejected with an unpleasant beep today at the manned till. The assistant said that they have stopped taking them unless you buy the item. I've heard this a few times before, but have never had the till refuse to accept them before.

Has this happened to anyone else recently?

If the cashier hadn't pressed total, then they would all beep.......

I've had £5.79 worth of coupons accepted as normal today, so think you must have just got a jobsworth till assistant.

Used the free coke voucher today and was told (As it says on the top of coupon) that it's internet only. Strange have used about 6 so far.

Anyway, have now removed that bit so will try again, and see.

I also think that the cashier didn't press total.
sometimes they forget,sometimes they use it as an excuse not to take them.
If it happens again a gentle" did you forget to press total?" works.

I used a couple today, everything as usual. Agree with the others that the SA probably forgot to press the button. :rolleyes:

yes i agree i always give the cashier a nudge and a wink and say have you sub totalled the till and that is always the problem they say say oh thanks do u work for tescos then lol

Sent an email to Tesco customer services yesterday, this was their reply :-

Thank you for your email.

Any coupons that display the Tesco logo, are Tesco specific. We only accept these if the products referred to on the coupons are purchased. This is because we negotiate savings with our suppliers on the condition that these actual products will be purchased.

With regard to coupons from brand name manufacturers, we are happy to accept one, even if you have not purchased the product. However, the coupon must be in date and Tesco must sell the item. If you present more than one identical coupon, then you must purchase the same number of products.

This also includes coupons printed from the Internet. However, these will only be accepted at the discretion of the Store Manager

I have had 1 good shop this year with lots of 1 of each accepted at 1 store & at my other usual store they would not take any. At my usual store same person that week before had accepted loads.Seems to change on weekly basis at this store, some weeks 10%, some 50%, some 1 of each.

Try asda now taking more coupons I use about 7 each time and they always go through!
