Warning about buying Bankrupt stock

We bought a lovely leather recliner and settee from bankrupt stock 5 months ago but now the chair has developed a fault underneath, one that we would never had noticed. My brother in lae who is an upholsterer found it.Anyway i rang the firm who we bought it off - they`re still selling the stock but they`ve said i`ve no comeback because it was sold as seen.I pointed out that no way would we have seen it anyway but they won`t repair it.I still want to keep the items.
I`m going to try and look further into it, but a warning to people don`t get caught out like i have:mad:

Where did you buy it from? I can only guess from your post that it was either second hand or sold from a batch of stock which was seized during banruptcy? In either case, those selling would probably not have been furniture experts, so I can understand why they say 'sold as seen'. However, if this was not made clear at the time of purchase then you might have a case. Did you get a receipt/proof of purchase?0
