flights to Crete-and do you book flights first then accomodation

I was just wondering if anyone knew how to get a half decent flight to Crete? I have looked at some where it says from £40 but when you key all the information in they shoot up to over £300 for peak season..

Also if i was going to do a DIY holiday is it best to book the flights first?? then follow with trying to find accomodation?? thank youx

  • Try www.charterflights.co.uk for flights. I make sure that accommodation and flights are available and then book straight away.

There are plenty of places to search for charter flights. http://www.travelsupermarket.co.uk is good for comparisons. As a rule I'd try all the major tour operators, MyTravel, Thomas Cook,Thomson, First Choice etc. If you leave your dates here i'm sure a few people wouldnt mind looking for you.

Personally I would always reccommend sorting flights first. Accomodation is generally more readily available, and the pricing system does not vary as much as for flights. If you book accomodation first there is never any guarantee you will get suitable flights to match, and if you are tied to dates you may end up paying very expensive prices. If the flights are booked and a certain accomodation is unavailable, then there will always be more...
  • Thanks for the replies so far, this is all new to me as i usually go with a tour operator and they 'do it all' dont they? However this time there are 12 of us going and we want to be together eg- villa or similar..

I have been looking for flights and have seen a few that will suit us but then i panic and think about where we will stay! .

any recommendations or more advise please

    thank you
